Clara Louise Mathis, 88, formerly of Clarksville, died Thursday, June 24, 2010, at her daughter's residence. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Woodlawn with Rev. James Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in First Baptist Church of Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the church. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born March 9, 1922 in Erin, TN and was preceded in death by her parents, Elvis and Maude Claxton Hamer; and her husband, James Mathis. Mrs. Mathis was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Woodlawn. She is survived by her sons, Robert Mathis, Colorado Springs, CO, George Mathis, Woodlawn; daughters, Caroline Harris, Erin, Linda Terrien, China, MI, Judy Stepp, Clarskville, Dorothy Yell, Gallatin; nineteen grandchildren, thirty two great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
