Cheryl Mae Kelly Stoddard, age 74, of Clarksville, went to be with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, April 30, 2018 after an extended illness. She was surrounded by her family and close friends at her home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2018 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Rocky Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
The Kelly family will receive friends from 2 to 6 pm on Sunday, May 6, 2018 and again on Monday from 9 am until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Cheryl entered into this life on April 17, 1944 in Rock Springs, WY, daughter to the late Alfred G. and Lila Mae Jenson Ditton. After the death of her mother, Cheryl was raised by her maternal grandparents, James and Mary Jensen. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years SFC (Ret) Thomas J. Kelly, and brother, Duane Ditton.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond A. Stoddard; sons, Thomas R.J. (Tammy) Kelly Clarksville, TN, Jimmy L.J. (Doris) Kelly of Guthrie, KY; step-sons, Raymond (Katie) Stoddard, and Bo Sisco of Clarksville TN, and Leo (Nicole) Pate of Tumwater WA; six grandchildren, Tessa Clinard, Tye Kelly, Jamie Kelly, Orion Pate, McKenzie Pate, and Jacqueline Pate; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Camden Clinard, and a special nephew, Kevin (Beth) Kelly of Boise Idaho. Also surviving Mrs. Kelly-Stoddard is her step-sister, Beverly (John) Evans, five God Children of whom she was extremely proud of, Manuel Vega III, Maria Almendares, Kristy Almendares Curtright, Annette O’Rourke Law and James Thomas O’Rourke. She leaves behind numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family that all started out as friends. Cheryl was a member of Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Gold Star Wives of America, Tuckasee Chapter and formerly of the 101st Chapter, where she held many local and regional offices. She was the past commander and life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary- Unit 45 and Unit Screaming Eagles 101, Cheryl also held membership with Capt. William Edmiston Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 233. She also served the Clarksville Foster Care Review Board and other Civic Boards, but her two great loves were the Dotsonville Community Center and the Red River Ramblers Square Dance Group where she met many wonderful friends and fellow dance enthusiasts, there she will be truly missed.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Stoddard, Jerry Everett, Tye Kelly, Kevin Kelly, J.T. O’Rourke, Allen Kelly, Manuel Vega III, Bo Sisco, and Leo Pate.
