Charles Henry Zimmerman, age 48, of Cunningham, TN, lovingly known as Chico, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

Chico entered this life on March 25, 1975 in Clarksville, TN. He was an avid fisherman, having taught both of his children how to fish. Chico loved being outdoors and spending time in nature. He loved his animals, and was always bringing home a stray. He was a skilled fabricator and race car builder. You could always find him in his shop with his buddies. They often referred to the shop as "Chico's Chop Shop". He was an accomplished race car driver and was well known within the racing community. He started his racing career at the age of 18, with the number 93 mini stock, inspired by his dear friend, Ray Stockdale. He worked his way into the street stock class, then open wheel class, having won several state and regional titles. He went on to race in the crate late model class and eventually the super late model class. Over his 30 year career of racing, he accumulated several hundred wins and made many memories along the way. Chico recently became a grandfather, and was an extremely proud  "Grump". Spending time with his grandson and teaching him the ways of the shop was his greatest past time.

Chico is preceded in death by his father, Michael E. Zimmerman, his father and mother in law, Donnie and Janie Hodges, and his best friends, Ray Stockdale and J.R. Knight.

Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Amy Beth Zimmerman; son, Cole Henry Zimmerman (Tori); daughter, Graycie Beth Zimmerman; grandson, Hayes Henry Zimmerman; aunt, Gayle Birdwell; brother, Mikey (Kristy) Zimmerman; sister, Amy Zimmerman; brothers by marriage, Mike Hodges, and Chance (Sarah Glenn) Hodges; mother, Brenda Zimmerman, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Chico also leaves behind his beloved labs, Paisley and Dolly.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leighton Hite, Mike Kondwros, Anthony Black, Mutt Trotter, Hammer Bornheim, Josh Suiter, Aaron Edwards, Mark Joyce, Kevin Fisher, David Beal, Marvin Roberts, and Ricky Byard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Black Family Cemetery Fund, c/o Elaine Bearden 4519 Louise Road, Cumberland Furnace, TN 37051.
