Charles Wilson “Buster” McWhorter, age 70 of Clarksville, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Gateway Medical Center after an extended battle with Scleroderma.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. David Mackens officiating. Burial will follow at Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday at the funeral home.
Charles was born on November 10, 1944 in Montgomery County, the son of the late Wilson McWhorter and Mary Elizabeth Bearden McWhorter. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother in law, Charles Baggett and nephew, Dudley Baggett. He was a member of Gum Springs Baptist and was a graduate of Austin Peay State University, he taught school in Edgewood, MD and Melbourne, FL. He returned to his alma mater and worked as a library associate where he later retired after 30 years. Charles loved his flowers, birds, and his annual trips to Gatlinburg. In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling around the world. He loved his trips to the Country Diner with his sisters and friends.
He was a loving brother, uncle, and great-uncle. He is survived by his sisters, Peggy Jo Baggett, Faye (Billy) Johnson, and Mary Beth (Eddie) Adams; 7 nieces and nephews, 17 great-nieces and nephews, and 8 great-great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Larry Adams, Mitchell Ellis, Cody Baggett, Marvin Berwind, Randy Dean, and Roger Cato.
