Charles Giddings Jr.

December 16, 1920 — May 24, 2008

Charles Daniel Giddings, Jr., 87, Port Royal, Tennessee, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died at his home, Saturday, May 24, 2008.
Visitation is scheduled 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM, Tuesday May 27, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel, Clarksville, and memorial service at 3:00 PM, with Rev. Karen Barrineau officiating.
He was born December 16, 1920, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, son of Charles Daniel Giddings, Sr., and Vivian Ruth Ivey Giddings. Mr. Giddings energy engineering consultant and retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority. He was a member of the St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a graduate of Emery University.
He is survived by his wife Hazel McEachern Giddings, Port Royal; daughters Jan Ivey Giddings, Hull, Massachusetts, Vivian Danielle Kelly, Pinellas Park, Florida, Evelyn Kay Kousek, Ballground, Georgia, stepson Robert S. Cornelius, Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren Jason Thornton, Andrew Thornton, Sean Kelly, and Jennifer Rich, Sharon Martin and Michelle Parrimore; great grandchildren Renae and Jennell Thornton, Ryan and Cameron Thornton, Rachel and Ben Kelly, Slayter Kousek, Nick Martens and Aysa Rich; nieces: Marie Duncan, Sybil Cutlip, Amy Pittard, and Stacie Koyashiki, nephews John Giddings, Dennis Hodges, Richard, Jim and Rob Walker; and several great nieces and nephews.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Charles was a blessing to all who knew him, and he will be sorely missed. His good humor, love of life and the Big Band music of his era, simple pleasures, his dogs, birds and the land will remain in our memories forever.
