Cecil Curtis, 85, Clarksville, passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 at his home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m Monday, September 12, 2011, at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. William Childress officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be rendered. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 12 noon until the hour of service Monday. A Masonic service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Cecil was born November 7, 1925 in McEwen, TN, son of Charles Sylvester and Ora Rebecca Curtis. He was married to Corene Knight-Curtis on March 11, 1946 in Hopkinsville, KY. Cecil was a Master Barber, having opened Curtis's Barber Shop in 1972 on Ft. Campbell Boulevard in Clarksville. He was a WWII Veteran, having served as a Navy Corpsman assigned to the Marines and participated in the Pacific Islands Campaign. He was also a Baptist and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Free Mason and belonged to Queen City Lodge, Clarksville, TN.
Preceding him in death is his loving wife of 62 years, Corene (2007), his parents, Charles and Ora, sister Lorene, and brother Lloyd Joseph. He is survived by a sister, Louise Curtis-Collett of Tennessee Ridge, TN, children Brenda Hammon (Mark), Linda Osborne (Louie), and Timothy (Belinda), all of Clarksville, grandchildren Dale Hammon (Norma) of Singer, LA, Greg Hammon (Angela) of Versailles, MO, Amy Hammon-Tinker (John) of Clarksville, Stacy Osborne-Hoover (Michael) of Clarksville, Shelley Nicole Osborne-Fladry (Robb) of Tampa, FL, and Alex Curtis of Clarksville, and great-grandchildren Cynthia Paige Tinker, Scott Hammon, and Marcus Hammon.
Pallbearers will be Dale Hammon, Greg Hammon, John Tinker, Michael Hoover, Billy Richardson, and Jim Connelly. Honorary pallbearers will be the Master Barbers of Curtis's Barber Shop.
