Catherine McWhorter

Catherine McWhorter, age 86, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at her home in Clarksville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Rev. James Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and 11 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the church.
Catherine entered this life on October 25, 1926, son of Woody and Lillie Shelton Powers. She was a caring and tender wife and mother and retired from Sears where she worked as a sales clerk for many years. Catherine was a member of the church family at Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Catherine is survived by her loving family which includes her husband of over 67 years, Thomas Curtis McWhorter of Clarksville; her children, Ronald McWhorter and his wife Joyce McWhorter of Memphis and Cathy Holloway of Clarksville; and sisters, Christine Rose, Alice Butts, and Dottie Allison, all of Clarksville. She was grandmother to Rebecca Blackstock and Brian Holloway and a great grandmother of two. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her brothers, James B. Powers, Woody L. Powers, Jr., Lewis P. Powers, and Roy L. Powers.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
