Cassie Lavon Abrams, 99, Clarksville, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Gateway Medical Center. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Rose Hill Cemetery, Brookfield, Missouri. Visitation will be from 3:30 until 8 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Cassie was born December 11, 1911 in Brookfield, Missouri, daughter of Claude A. and Martha Lillian Stilabower Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude L. Abrams and her sister Pauline Smith. After graduating from Brookfield High School in 1929, she attended Beauty School in Kansas City. Her cosmetology career was short as she fulfilled her desire to become a wife and mother. In 1937 she married her husband and began her family. She was a very active member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church of Brookfield. She served on various committees and taught Sunday School until 2002. Cassie enjoyed gardening, fishing and crafts. She also had a love for people and would often entertain around her kitchen table with coffee and homemade cookies. In 2002 Cassie made the decision to move to Clarksville to be near her son Wayne. She moved into Walking Horse Meadows and became involved in their activities. She was crowned the Bingo Queen and would often teach other residents to play Dominos. Cassie touched many lives with her gentle, Christ-like spirit. Survivors include her sons Albert Richard (Helen) Abrams of House Springs, MO and Wayne Edward (Betsy) Abrams of Clarksville, sisters Louise Doniphan of Denver, CO and Myrtle Brenneman of Brookfield, MO, grandchildren Vanessa Jones, Kevin Abrams, Dianne Schroeter, and David Gibson, eight great-grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
