Carroll Ray Ellis, 85, Palmyra, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Gateway Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 1pm Friday, December 2, 2011 at McReynolds-Nave and Larson Funeral Home with Rev. David Mackens officiating. Burial with be at First Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm Thursday and 11am until the hour of service Friday. Masonic service will be 7pm Thursday for all friends at the funeral home.
Carroll was born November 23, 1926 in Huntington Woods, Michigan, son of Henry Aubrey and Nannie Mae Ellis. He was a charter member of First Canaan Baptist Church and the oldest member of Palmyra Masonic Lodge #747 and Past Master.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Imogene Powers Ellis and son Gary Ellis.
Survivors include his wife Elaine Hayes Tucker Ellis; son Larry Ellis; stepson John Bryce Tucker; granddaughter, Sonya DeSilva; grandson Jeremy Ellis; great grandchildren, Nicholas Carroll DeSilva, Zachary Garrison DeSilva, Tristen Ellis, and Hunter Dale Ellis; step grandchildren, Lynne VanBull, Michael Tucker, and Elaine Rodgers; step great grandchildren, Alex, Madeleine, Morgan, and Khristian; and special caregiver Heather Williams.
Pallbearers are Chris Ellis, Bobby Ellis, Steve Yarbrough, Hugh Poland, A.B. Baggett, Michael Tucker, Jimmy Cunningham, and Argan VanBull. Memorials may be made to First Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery Fund C/O Robert Ellis, 1753 Skelton Drive, Clarksville, TN, 37040.
