Carney Willis Wright, age 95, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Revs. Felts Dent and Larry Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
His family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Carney entered into this life on October 5, 1921 in Houston County to the late Arthur G. Wright and Vida Beard Wright. Carney was an alumnus of both Northwestern University and George Washington University and later in life retired after a 28 year career with the former Memorial Hospital of Clarksville. During his tenure there he served as the hospital's Administrator. Carney was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clarksville, past President of the Clarksville Rotary Club, and had bravely served in the US Army during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his wife and mother to his children, Nellie Dreaden Wright; two brothers, Arthur Wright and Hugh Hankins. Survivors include his wife, Madeline Wright; daughters, Janet Felts, Gail Wright, and Linda Wright; and children by marriage, Barbara Yarbrough (Royce), Bobby Smith (Mary Lou), Linda Anderson (Andy), Jane Stormer (Pete), and Richard Smith (Robyn).
