Carl E. Stewart, Jr., age 90, of Clarksville went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2017.
A Celebration of Life will be held at at 12 noon Friday, June 30, 2017 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Dr. Felts Dent and Dr. Larry Riley officiating. Burial will be in Hermitage Memorial Gardens, Hermitage, TN. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home.
Carl was born on January 27, 1927 in Cleveland, TN, son of the late Carl E. and Ruth Bingham Stewart. He was retired from a 50 year draftsman career. Carl was also a Navy veteran of WWII where he served on the U.S.S. Pittsburgh. During his service as a Seaman First Class, he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific and the American Theatres Campaign Medals, and 2 Battle Stars. Carl was a member of the church family at First Baptist Church of Clarksville and enjoyed woodworking, handyman work, and construction jobs.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Evelyn Stewart; children, Judy Samuels (Ron) and Marsha Chamberlain (Bob); grandchildren, Scott Samuels (Diana), Stacy Robertson (Shaun), Eric Chamberlain, Tracie Chamberlain, and Kevin White (Elisa); and great grandchildren, Eli, Wyatt, Avery, Patton, Autumn, Gavin, Hudson, and Hadley. He was preceded in death by son, David White.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be C.W. Stokes, Calvin Stokes, Jimmie Brown, Charles Turpen, Bobby Bowers, and Henry Meness.
