Carl Eskew Bryant, 61, Clarksville, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 15, 2009, at VA Hospital, Nashville. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Dr. Roger Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and from 12 noon until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home. He was born November 22, 1947 in Montgomery County son of Eldon W. and Thelma Austin Bryant. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Bryant was a member of First Baptist Church and a salesman. He was the 1966 Tennessee Debate Champion and placed third in the National Tournament. He attended University of Tennessee Knoxville, served in the United States Marine Corps as an Interpreter during the Vietnam Conflict, a CAP Leader, a recipient of the Purple Heart, lifetime member of the NRA as well as a certified instructor. Survivors include his mother, Thelma Austin Bryant; daughter, Carla Bryant Rodriguez; step-sons, Mickey (Tara) Rondorf, Joshua Hughes; brothers, James E. (Vicki) Bryant, Larry W. Bryant; sisters, Wanda B. Mills, Peggy B. (Jimmy) Jernigan; granddaughter, Aurora May Rodriguez; nieces and nephews. Nephews will serve as pallbearers, Jonathan Biggs, Brian Biggs, Jackson Biggs, Scott Mills, Michael Mills and Dan Daigle.
