Bud Wells

 Jessie (Bud) Wells, age 95, of Cunningham, TN, died Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2024, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 3 to 6 p.m. and again on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. 

Bud was born on December 30, 1928, to the late Jessie Wells, Sr. and Alice Ferrell Wells, of Slayden, Tennessee. He was a member of Gum Springs Baptist church, loved working in his garden, and traveling when he was able.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Beulah, Eula, and Dottie Wells, and Verble Black; brothers, Lester, Vester, and Ernest Wells, and daughter, Cathy Baggett.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Cathleen Wells; daughter, Peggy Wells Stephenson; grandsons, Jason and Joshua Stephenson; son-in-law, Dexon Stephenson, and great-grandchildren, Ian and Wren Stephenson. He also leaves behind his nieces, nephews, church family, and numerous friends.

Pallbearers will be Ian Stephenson, Jason Stephenson, Joshua Stephenson, Chance Hodges, Scott McWhorter, Adam Elliott, and Wren Stephenson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Baggett, Bobby Belew, Danny Wells, and Scott McWhorter. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Jude’s Research Center, 501 Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
