Bro. Garner Ray Smith, 75, Clarksville, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Baptist Church with the Revs. Clyde Hancock and Jerry Asberry officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Hopkinsville, KY. Visitation will be from 3 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at Faith Baptist Church. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Bro. Smith was born in Montgomery County, TN, May 12, 1935 son of the late James Reynolds Smith and Johnnie Shrader Smith. Besides his parents he was preceeded in death by a sister Izorah Bowers. Bro. Smith served The Lord faithfully for 52 years as a Baptist Minister. A graduate of Bible Baptist College, Clarksville, TN, the churches he served were, First Canaan Baptist Church, Palmyra, TN , Fairview Baptist Church of Dickson, TN, Bible Baptist Church of White Bluff,TN , Faith Baptist Church of Sacramento, KY, Julien Baptist Church of Gracey,KY, and was currently pastor of Faith Baptist Church of Clarksville, TN. Bro. Smith is survived by his wife, Augusta Bowles Smith of Clarksville; daughters, Connie (John Wayne) Herndon of Cadiz, KY Rita (Pembroke) Foster of Hopkinsville Brother Norman Smith of Clarksville, Sisters Louise Bowers and Esther McCormick both of Clarksville, and Cecelia Bowles of Dotsonville, grandchildren, Amanda Polete, Ben Foster, Morgan Foster, and Betsy Herndon, great grand child, Charlotte Polete.
