Bro. Robert Albert "Bob" Mitchell

Robert Albert Mitchell, 78, Clarksville, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 in Nashville, Tennessee.
A Celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Clarksville with Dr. Roger Freeman, Dr. Dennis Pulley, and Chap. David Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Military honors will be rendered. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, and 10 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the church.
Bob was born January 19, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama, son of Charles Griffin Mitchell and Bessie Glispie Mitchell. Bob was a retired Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. He was also a retired Southern Baptist Minister and retired Chaplain for the Clarksville Police Department. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church, the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the International Conference of Police Chaplains (ICPC), and was a Chaplain for the Southern Baptist Mission Board.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Billie Jean Thompson Mitchell of Clarksville; his sons, Robert A. Mitchell, Jr. and his wife Donna of Pinewood, TN and Mark James Mitchell of Nashville; his daughter Melisa Jean Echols and her husband Ricky of Burns, TN; brother Charles Griffin Mitchell, Jr. of Atlanta; grandchildren Robert Wesley Montgomery, Kris Echols, Robert Joseph Mitchell, and Laura Jean Mitchell.
The Clarksville Police Department Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Bruce Behre, Kevin Kennedy, Bruce Kennedy, and Clarksville Police Department FOP will serve as honorary pallbearers.
