Robert "Bobby" Allen Ellis, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Clarksville on Thursday, March 2, 2017 with his loving family at his side.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. The Reverend Richard Stafford will officiate. Bobby will be laid to rest at the First Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery in Palmyra.
The Ellis family will receieve friends from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home. Additionally, a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening.
Bobby entered into this life on September 16, 1939 in Palmyra to the late Austin P. Ellis and Edna Davidson Ellis. Bobby retired after 42 years of service as a machinist with the Trane Company. He took great pride in his trade and also enjoyed all the special friendships he made over the decades while working there. Bobby was a member of the First Canaan Baptist Church, the Palmyra Masonic Lodge #747, and was an active Shriner and York Rite Mason. He especially enjoyed golf in his spare time and coaching youth baseball.
Bobby was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Jane Ellis, grandson, Bradley Sumner, and his sister, Macy Schreiber. Survivors include his sons, Allen W. Ellis and Marty D. Ellis (Tina); grandchildren, Bradly A. Ellis (Sara), Allison Ellis, Nicole Ellis, and Crissy Sumner; brother, Kenneth Ellis; sisters, Patsy Phillips, Linda Mullins, and Judy Black.
Pallbearers will be Kris Phillips, Tommy Black, Kenneth Ellis, Lathe Gaither, Chris Ellis, and Anthony Mullins. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Ellis, David Ellis, Larry Ellis, Roger Gaither, and Gene Mullins.
