Bill Tierney

Bill went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2018. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Virginia Tierney and his in laws, Nelson and Reathy Stokes.
He is cherished by his wife of almost 52 years, Ethel Stokes Tierney, and two sons William Lee Tierney IV (Valerie), and Wesley Nelson Tierney (Francie). He is also remembered by his grandchildren; Ryann, Emma, Carson Tierney, Chad Dirks, Lucas Dirks, and Amanda Osborne. He is also cherished by brothers by marriage, Calvin, CW (Bear), and Ernie Stokes.
Bill honorably served in the United States Navy as a Seabee. He served two tours in Vietnam. He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1964. Bill retired after 35 years with Poser/Excell Printing Company, Clarksville.
Bill volunteered for eleven years as a coach and manager at Northwest Little League at Stokes Field, Clarksville. He volunteered for 15 years with the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. He was a former member of Ringgold Civitan, Clarksville. Bill was a deacon at Northeast Baptist Church, Clarksville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Excell Baptist Church. Revs. Cal Hampton, Terrell Marcom, and John Franklin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, and 10 a.m. until the hour of service Tuesday, at Excell Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northeast Baptist Church, Northwest Little League at Stokes field, or a charity of your choice.
Pallbearers will be Paul Landrum, David Stokes, Ricky Stokes, Robert Williams, Tony Broadbent, T Smith, and Robert Henderson.
