Bettye Ruth Lewis Summers went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 12, 2017 while at her home in Erin. She was 95 years old.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday August 14, 2017 at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home, Erin, with the Rev. Tim Ferrell officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Summers Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 12 noon until the hour of service on Monday.
Bettye entered into this life on February 15, 1922 in the Arlington Community of Houston County to Henry Clay Thomas Lewis and Eliza Byde Nolen Lewis. She was a graduate of Houston Co. High School and shortly thereafter, on December 22, 1939, was joined in the bonds of matrimony to the late W.C. “Bill” Summers. Bettye was a loving and attentive homemaker for her family and enjoyed filling her spare time reading, sewing, and being actively involved with both the Houston Co. FCE Club and the Houston Co. Historical Society. She was a long time member of the church family at the Erin Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her children, Linda Summers Chattin, Lewis Cooley Summers, and Lou Anne Summers Pollard; grandchildren, Elizabeth Mullins, Williams Summers, Jack Jennings, and Sam Jennings; great grandson, Richard Mullins; and two great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Richard Mullins, Ricky Mullins, Bob Pollard, Jack Jennings, Sam Jennings, and William Summers.
