Bettye Jo Mathis

Bettye Jo Mathis, age 81 of Erin, was called home to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 6, 2013.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home, Erin, with Bro. Roy Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Lockhart Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and 9 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Bettye entered into this life on June 2, 1932 in Houston County, daughter to Johnnie E. and Louise McClain Rye. She was a secretary for Comfort Air in Erin and was a faithful member of the church family at Campground Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, George Doy Mathis and brothers, Johnnie Rye, Jr. and Vernon Rye.
Survivors include her children, Terry Mathis and his wife Terri of Erin, and Tammy Simmons and her husband Donnie of Erin; brothers, Tilton Rye and J.M. Rye, both of Waverly; and sister, Mary Lou Dobbins of Erin. She was the loving grandmother of Jennifer Mathis, Matt Mathis, Drew Simmons and Aaron Mathis.
Pallbearers will be Matt Mathis, Drew Simmons, Aaron Mathis, Von Selph, Jimmy Felts, and Jeff Cooper. Jerry Seay and Matthew Mullins will serve as Honorary.
