Betty Shepherd Taylor, age 75 of Woodlawn, passed away suddenly at her residence on June 27, 2015.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Louie Montoya officiating. Burial will follow at Central Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday.
She was born May 30, 1940, daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Eunice Outlaw Shepherd. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Fred Shepherd. Survivors include her devoted husband of 51 years, Harold Taylor; brother, David Shepherd; step son, Shelby Taylor; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Betty was a member of the First Assembly of God Church where she faithfully served God being a very devoted and dedicated Christian her faith and God were first in her life.
She grew up in the Dotsonville Community and also resided there. Betty graduated from Woodlawn High School and Austin Peay State University with a degree in teaching elementary grades. Teaching children brought her great joy and pleasure. Her teaching career started at Byrns Darden. Her husband Harold’s career was dedicated to serving in the United States Army. They lived in several different states and also Germany. Betty always taught school wherever they lived.
The highlight and greatest reward of her teaching career was Principal and Administrator of Montgomery Christian Academy. She also served on the Foster Care Relief Board.
She enjoyed her family, friends, church activities, and doing for others. Betty was a wonderful loving person to her family and all that knew her.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Bowles, John Goodlett, Ronald Grizzard, Douglas Miller, Jimmy Shepherd, and Steve Holman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Betty’s honor can be made to the Montgomery County Foster Parent Association at 812 Tiny Town Road, Clarksville, TN 37042.
