Betty Jean Underwood Karnes, 75, Cumberland Furnace, died Monday, November 22, 2010, at Gateway Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Bro. Dennis Jones and Bro. Phillip Chambers officiating. Burial will be in Baggett's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Betty was born July 29, 1935 in Montgomery County, daughter of Ray and Lester Underwood. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband J.C. (Tiny) Karnes. She was a member of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, member of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Hillbilly Shriners, retired from B.J. Produce and was a cook at Triangle Market. She is survived by sons, Michael(Donna) Karnes, Clarksville, Clyde (Brenda) and Danny Karnes both of Cumberland Furnace, and Ronnie (Olivia) Underwood, Centerville, Ohio; daughters, Barbara Jean (Tommy) Hodges, Clarksville, Lynne (Larry) Stites, Helen (Johnny) Black, and Patricia (Jessie) Tuberville, all of Cumberland Furnace; sisters Nancy Shelton of Cunningham and Byde Lyle of Clarksville; brothers J.W. Underwood, Paul Underwood, and Louie Underwood, all of Ohio; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers Arrangements in the care of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, (931)647-3371.
