Betty Jo Dixon, age 82 of Clarksville, passed into eternity on Saturday, October 13, 2018.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Clarksville with Dr. Felts Dent officiating. Burial will follow at Sango Cemetery.
The Dixon family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at First Baptist Church, Clarksville.
Betty Jo was born on November 10, 1935 in Kaiser, AR daughter of the late James Pendergrast and Emma Peacock Pendergrast. She was a fifty year member of the church family at First Baptist, Clarksville, was active in women’s bible studies, and was a life servant of God. One of her last acts was bringing food to an elderly friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Dr. Thomas P. Dixon, retired APSU History Professor. Dr. Dixon always gave Betty Jo credit for helping him earn his doctorate.
Survivors include her daughters, Deidre Dixon (Eric) Amstutz, Alison Dixon (Kevin) Lankford, and son, Thomas Blaine (Ewa) Dixon.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Wortham, Wally Vinson, Ray Stone, Dwight Dickson, Tony Parker, and Donald Ussery. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Webb, Ed Hawkins, and Frank Goodlett.
