Betty Brooks

Betty Jean Brooks, age 86 of Erin, TN, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 at her daughter’s residence while surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Warfield officiating. Burial will follow at Myers Cemetery.
The Brooks family will receive friends on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service Monday afternoon.
Betty entered this life on November 6, 1936 in Cumberland City, TN, daughter to the late Earlie and Margaret Vaughn. Betty was a Christian and was a long-time member of Sailors Rest United Methodist Church. She enjoyed Christian music and could educate you on the words of the Holy Bible. She gave the best of care to her children and would do without herself for their needs. One of her greatest joys was the care of her many animals who were treated with abundance of love. She enjoyed the outdoors and the beauty of nature.
Although Betty worked at the Clarksville Court House in her younger years and several local factories, her dedication was to raising her family and caring for her many animals.
Betty needed care for the several years for the physical body, but she always preserved over her physical illness to be seen moving her mouth in prayer. From memory, she could always remember the words to the old-time hymns, and loved to sing them along with her daughter, Kathy Perry.
Her family has no doubt that God has given her a new body, as He promised. She is now joined with her family that awaits her in Glory.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, Donald M. Brooks; grandson, Kelly Darnell; siblings, Carrol Vaughn, Dale Allison Vaughn, Mary Vaughn, and Ruth Vaughn.
Survivors include her loving children, Connie Darnell (Roger) of Madison, TN, Terry W. Brooks of Erin, TN, Donald Gene Brooks of Nashville, TN, and Kathy Perry (Joe) of Clarksville, TN. Betty was also the grandmother of 21 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren. Betty also leaves behind her siblings, Charles Vaughn of Clarksville, TN, Edsel Vaughn (Opal) of Cummingham, TN, James (Jimmy) Vaughn of Sailors Rest, TN, and Sally Jensen of Cumberland City, TN; along with many nieces and nephews.
Betty’s friends and family will serve as pallbearers on the day of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Betty by showing Christian love towards another person and always treat God’s creatures with kindness, as Betty would have done.
