Bernard A. Kimmet, 72, Clarksville, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at Gateway Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 12 noon Sunday, February 6, 2011 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the funeral home. A Memorial Mass will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011 at All Saints Catholic Church, New Riegal, OH with Father Randy Giesige officiating. Bernard was born January 24, 1938 in rural Seneca County, Ohio to Albert J. and Margaret Frickenstein Kimmet. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lewis Kimmet; and nephews, Gary Spero and Timothy Kimmet. He attended Jackson Liberty School, Seneca County, OH, joined the U.S. Army and served three tours of duty in Vietnam and several years in Germany, retiring in 1977 at Fort Campbell, KY. Bernard never married. He is survived by his sister, Joan (Allen) Spero, Fostoria, OH; brother, Norbert (Pat) Kimmet, Bettsville, OH; Fourteen nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, Oscar. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the charity of your choice.
