Barry Wood Penrod, age 69 of Cumberland City, TN, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at his residence.
A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The Penrod family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service Sunday afternoon.
Barry entered this life on August 18, 1949 in Beechmont, KY, son to the late Leander and Vera Penrod. Barry proudly served his country in the United States Army and after serving two tours in Vietnam, he earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his heroism. Barry loved wood working and was a carpenter by trade. He was loved by his family and friends and he will greatly be missed.
In addition to his parents, Barry was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Penrod; siblings, Shelby DeArmond, Billy Joe Penrod, Coy Hugh Penrod, Darrell Penrod, Geraldine Gilliam, Judy Clark, Gayla Phillips, Brenda Hogan, Jan Green, and Shirley Moore.
Survivors include his loving wife, Kathleen Penrod; children, Barry Lee Penrod (Sarah), Chad Lee Penrod, Justin Matthew Penrod, and Amber Kathleen Reasonover (Brandon). Barry also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Green, Darrel Penrod, John Penrod, Mike Penrod, Brandon Reasonover, and Bill Langley. Honorary pallbearers will be Derreck Penrod, Toby Penrod, Ethan Penrod, Frankie Nutt, and Matthew Rogalski.
