Barry E. Hay, 65, Clarksville, died Friday, August 13, 2010, at Gateway Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Outreach Church, located at 731 Windermere Dr. in Clarksville, with Pastor William Luffman officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Barry was born December 26, 1944 in Hartford, CT, son of the late Benjamin Vern Hay, Jr. and Dorothy Marie Suthergill Hay. He was also predeceased by his son, CW2 Dennis P. Hay, who lost his life while dutifully serving his country in Iraq. Following twenty years of service with the U.S. Navy, he retired with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Barry went on to work for General Dynamics - Electric Boat Division where he performed analytical work for twenty years before retiring from there as well. He was a member of Faith Outreach Church, The Gideons International, the Patriot Guard Riders, USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans Incorporated), and he was an amateur radio operator. He is survived by his wife Patty Tipton Hay of Clarksville; son Barry Hay and his wife Katherine of Jacksonville, FL; daughter Bridgette Hay of Clarksville; daughter-in-law Rebecca Hay of Clarksville; brother Charles R. Hay of Westerly, RI; sister Nancy Humphrey of Westerly, RI; grandchildren Paige Taylor Hay, Jacob Gavin Hay, Abagale Noel Hay, and Sophia Lee Maund; niece Jessica Nicole Rayne; nephew Christopher Sierra Rayne; and great-nephew Aiden Rayne. Members of the U.S. Navy Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the The Gideons Memorial Bible Plan, P.O. Box 45, Clarksville, TN 37041.
