Ava Spurgeon

Ava Spurgeon, age 93, of Erin,TN, passed away January 3, 2015 at Signature Health Care in Erin after an extended stay. Mrs. Ava was born April 13, 1921, daughter of the late Luther and Lena Nichols Sugg. Ava was married to Martin Spurgeon for over 72 years before his passing in 2012. She was a meticulous homemaker, a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, as well as the preparer of many delicious meals. She faithfully supported the gospel music ministry of her husband and daughter as they traveled over the years with The Erin Quartet. She attended Arlington Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Baggett and her husband Cecil, one grandson, Brent Baggett and his wife Joannie, two great-grandchildren Justun and Tabitha, five great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Jewell Steppee and Brothers Oliver Carlton (Bill) Sugg, Luther Clifford Sugg, and Luther Junior Sugg. The funeral service will be Monday January 5, 2015 at Nave Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Paul Moody, Bro. Robert Spurgeon and Bro. Phillip Chambers officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent Baggett, Justun Baggett, Howard Spurgeon, Beverly Nolen, Joel Nolen and Brandon Chambers.
