Ardell Shippy

Ardell U. Shippy, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Sango United Methodist Church with the Rev. Willie Lyle officiating. Her family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the church.
Ardell entered into this life on March 26, 1928 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, daughter to the late Albert and Sophia Friedich Uherka. She was retired from a career as an Administrative Assistant in the cosmetics manufacturing industry and locally worked for 17 years as the Secretary of Trinity Episcopal Church. Ardell was a member of the Sango United Methodist Church and faithfully served there for many years as a talented member of the choir and as a member of the Church Council. Additionally, Ardell had many interests and remained very active throughout her retirement years. She and her husband Gordon, with great compassion, served as Coordinators for the Room In the Inn at Sango United Methodist Church. She also volunteered for WNKJ Christian Radio, was a longtime member of WNKJ Bible Study, member of the Gideons Auxiliary, a charter member of the Loaves and Fishes Ministry, a Volunteer for Tennessee Archives of Montgomery County. She was active in the Senior Games, a charter member of the Clarksville Badmitton Club, and enjoyed playing in the Golf League of AO Smith.
In addition to her parents, Ardell was preceded in death by her brother, Myron Uherka and her son-in-law, Doug Cox. Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Gordon Shippy; children Glen Shippy (Teresa) and Pamela Dell Cox; grandchildren, Meleigh and Benjamin Shippy; and her sister-in-law, Lillian Uherka.
