Ann entered this life on May 28, 1942, in Montgomery County, TN to the late Henry Ray Black and Lucille Matthews Black. She was a member of Miller’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. She was a vibrant soul, whose spunky spirit touched the lives of many. Throughout her life, Ann cherished moments that brought her happiness, often reminiscing about her favorite dance move, the peppermint twist. The Country Diner held a special place in her heart, where she enjoyed skating as a teenager, and later treating herself and the grandkids to ice cream cones. Ann had a love for evening rides through the river bottoms, an experience she always enjoyed, just like her father before her. Her greatest joy of all was her family. She was a loving mother, Granny, sister, and friend. Among her treasured loved ones were her beloved dogs, Sadie and Bear, who brought her great happiness.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Vaude Morris Newsom “Frog”; brothers, Robert Black and William Black; brother-in-law, Royce Newell and sister-in-law, Wanda Black.

Survivors include her sons, Terry Newsom (Lenette), Danny Newsom (Patty), and Gerald Newsom; grandchildren, Amanda Lovvorn (Jonathan), Joshua Newsom (Lindsay), Katlin Mathis (Cody), Cody Newsom, Brandon Hodges, Amanda Hodges, Kyle Harris, Bradley Newsom, and Connor Newsom (Chloe); sixteen great-grandchildren and one on the way. She also leaves behind her siblings, Rev. James Black, and Nell Newell; sister-in-law, Mary C. Black; brothers-in-law, Bobby Newsom (Edna), and Johnny Newsom (Judy).

Pallbearers will be Joshua Newsom, Cody Newsom, Connor Newsom, Russell Black, Chad Perry, and Brother Pewitt.

Arrangements are in the care of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, 1209 Madison St, Clarksville, TN.
