Alice Ellis

Alice Jane `Janie` Ellis, 68, Clarksville, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Bro. Richard Stafford & Bro. Bob Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in First Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born October 28, 1940 in Montgomery County daughter of Vermont Gaither and Bessie Elizabeth Rives Gaither. Mrs. Ellis was retired from Montgomery County Schools as a Teachers Aide where she had previously recieved the award of Clarksville-Montgomery County Teacher Aide of the Year; She was member of the Palmyra Eastern Star and First Canaan Baptist Church where she was a song leader, Primary Sunday School Teacher, WMU Mission Support Leader, assistant VBS director, G.A. Leader and assistant church clerk. She also enjoyed bowling with her league. Other than her mother of Clarksville, survivors include her husband, Robert A. Ellis, Clarksville; sons, Allen W. Ellis, Clarksville; Marty D. (Tina) Ellis, Cumberland Furnace; brothers, Douglas Gaither and Roger Gaither, both of Clarksville; sister, Judy Herald, Cumberland Furnace; grandchildren, Bradly Ellis, Allison Ellis, Crissy Sumner, Bradley Sumner and Nicole Ellis. Pallbearers will be Kris Phillips, Tommy Black, Lathe Gaither, Keven Schmidt, Kenny Davis, Gus Crockett, Anthony Rye and Ricky Johnson. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
