Alan L. Scott

November 28, 1946 — December 29, 2024

Clarksville

Alan L. Scott, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, peacefully departed this life on December 29, 2024, in Clarksville, Tennessee. Born on November 28, 1946, in Culpeper, Virginia, Alan's journey through life was marked by his deep commitment to family, service to his country, and a steadfast work ethic.

Alan dedicated a portion of his life during the Vietnam conflict to the United States Air Force, embodying the spirit of duty and sacrifice that would shape his future as a devoted husband and father. Following his military service, Alan brought his dedication to public service as a Postal Clerk for the United States Postal Service, where he served with pride and reliability, forging connections within the Washington D.C. area. After his 38 year career with the postal service, Alan drove for the St. Mary's County government, providing transportation for the senior and disabled community. He loved driving and his love led to his part time job at Hertz Rental Car. Another cherished memory for Alan's family was time spent attending air shows together over the years.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Lorretto Scott, daughter, Tanya Lockett (husband Eric), and son, Paris Scott. Alan deeply adored his grandchildren, Eriq and Tariq Lockett, who brought immense joy to his life. His siblings, Ronald, Lynette, and Randolph (Becky) Scott, aunt, Nellie Bannister, and uncle, Walter Scott, will also remember him fondly, as will all those who knew him for his kindness and gentle nature.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillie Mae Scott, his eldest son, Spencer J.B. Scott, and his brother, John Scott III. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

As we reflect on Alan's life, we celebrate a man who exemplified love, honor, and resilience. His legacy, marked by devotion to family and country, will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. A graveside ceremony will take place at Culpeper National Cemetery (Culpeper, VA) on Friday, January 31st, 2025 at 2 p.m. Air Force Honors will be rendered. Condolences and gestures of sympathy for the family may be made on Alan's tribute page at NaveFuneralHomes.com.
